Spanish university students rank Alstom as one of the most innovative companies :Alstom ranks among the top ten companies selected by Spanish university students as most innovative, according to the annual Universum Most Attractive Employers study. Conducted in Spain among 30,000 students and professionals, this international study shows how some companies are perceived as more innovative workplaces than others, which positively impacts their capacity to attract and retain talent.

The results of the Spanish study are based on answers given by 24,000 university students from 45 education centres, mostly engineering or IT, as well as 5,000 professionals. Other state-of-the-art, innovative companies such as Apple, Google, Roche, Thales, Bq, Michelin, Airbus, Samsung and Intel also made the list.

“We are very pleased to enter this ranking this year. Innovation is a strategic tool for standing out and being more competitive. Globally, Alstom invests a significant part of its turnover in R&D projects with the aim that by 2020, newly-developed products will account for 30% of orders booked”, said Antonio Moreno, President of Alstom in Spain.

The survey, carried out by Universum, a leading global Employer Branding consultancy firm, compares the career expectations of Generation X (professionals born in the sixties), with those of Generation Y (millennials born after 1980) and Generation Z (born in the nineties), analysing their attitude towards technology.

Innovation, as described in this study, has transformed the professional world by introducing concepts such as flexibility, connectivity, instant feedback and management of virtual teams, in an increasingly global context. This international survey gathers information that is useful for designing workplaces that meet the expectations of the different generations, improving their ability to attract, retain and create loyalty among talent.

With around 2,000 workers in Spain, Alstom is present with an industrial train manufacturing plant and four innovation centres that work on R&D programmes in rail transport safety, signalling, maintenance and trains. Between 2014 and 2016, the Alstom Spanish teams contributed to a total of 38 international projects.
