Alstom’s Innovation Awards 2017: in-house ingenuity

The 10th edition of the Innovation Awards, the high point of Alstom’s internal innovation programme I Nove You, came to a close on Monday, December 4th.

I Nove You is a yearly, company-wide programme designed to unleash the innovative power of all Alstom’s people. Open to all employees across all business lines and sites, the competition rewards creativity in every shape and form, spanning products, systems, processes, sustainable development, and even Open innovation. Through Open innovation, Alstom is partnering with start-ups, research institutes, Universities, and companies… A way to benefit from the latest technologies in various domains and accelerate its innovation process.

Anyone lucky enough to have attended this year’s event would likely agree: at the ripe old age of 10, I Nove You is reaching full maturity. It’s a decade that has seen the birth of solutions that are now successfully available to our customers, such as HealthHub, Hesop, and more recently, the Coradia iLint, the world’s first hydrogen train, and recent recipient of its first commercial contract. This year, with a total of 513 projects submitted from all Regions, it’s a new record.

The competition wrapped up on Monday with the Gold, Silver and Bronze places being announced to the 16 finalists. Prize list is fully aligned with Alstom’s strategy as it includes major innovations for a smarter mobility such as Aptis, the new mobility experience, and Mastria, a unique multimodal traffic orchestrator. Both innovations were revealed for the first time this year.

Henri Poupart-Lafarge, Alstom Chairman and CEO, concluded the ceremony: “Innovation is an essential part of Alstom’s strategy, of course for 2020, but also beyond. […] I congratulate everyone – the winners of course, but also every individual and team that submitted a project. You are the source of Alstom’s innovative spirit.”
