Siemens Awarded To Electrify Lima Metro Lines: Ansaldo STS has awarded Siemens For Lima Metro Line 2 and a phase of  Line 4. The project also includes an extension of Line 2 to the airport. Siemens will supply six feeder stations, two 20 kV cable distribution rings, 37 station supplies and 21 rectifier substations, plus the SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) system.

The 27 km Line 2 will connect Ate in the east with Callao in the west with 27 stations. An 8 km branch to Jorge Chávez International Airport will form the first phase of Line 4. Passenger service will start in 2017, with the rest of Line 4 to be built by 2021. Around 80% of the energy required for operation on the two lines is to be provided by hydroelectric power.
