Ropeway plan to boost tourism

Ropeway plan to boost tourism : In a bid to boost tourism, the tourism department is planning to develop passenger ropeway services in five prominent tourist sites across the state.

The Jharkhand Tourism Development Corporation (JTDC) has initiated a feasibility study for setting up mono-cable passenger ropeways in Ranchi’s Pahari Mandir and Jonha falls, Massanjore Dam in Dumka, Ramrekha Dam in Simdega and Dalma Hill under the Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary.

State tourism director V K Vaghmare said the department’s own engineers are conducting a feasibility study on parameters that includes soil testing, landscape gradient among other aspects. The economic viability of passenger ropeway services at these sites are also being looked into, he added.

Though blessed with a hilly landscape, Jharkhand has only one operational passenger ropeway services in Trikut Hill, roughly 25km away from the temple town of Deoghar.
