Izmir Trams are delivered :The first set of tram that are being manufactured by Eurotem is delivered. The vehicles will be shown in the the international exhibition. Total 38 trams will be used in Karsikaya and Konak trams. Tram is 32 m long and 2,65 m wide with 285 passenger capacity. It included 48 seats and can travel with the maximum speed of 70 km/h having an unpowered and two motor bogies have a total of eight 60 kW traction motors.

21 trams are to enter service on the 13 km Konak Line with 20 stops, and 17 trams on the 9 km Karşıyaka Line with 14 stops. Both lines are due to be operational by June 2017, with planned peak headways of 3 min and 5 min off-peak. The will be two seperate Depots and two tram lines are not connected to each other.

The operation speed of both trams are limited up to 50 km/h in service, and average commercial speed is envisaged to be 24 km/h. The air-conditioned interior features LCD passenger information screens, dynamic route maps and CCTV. The exterior livery includes waves, a traditional motif of Izmir.

TCDD’s Eurotem joint venture of Hyundai Rotem and Tüvasas is the manufacturer of the vehicles. This is the second tram production of Hyundai and Eurotem’s factory in Adapazarı with nearly 85% of the components produced locally.
