The 76.5 km long Verona-Padua segment is part of major infrastructure planning at both Italian and European level, forming an integral part of the Turin-Milan-Venice line and being an important component of the Mediterranean Corridor of the Trans-European Transport Network. The 29 km long segment between Padua and Venice was opened in 2007.
