InnoTrans 2016: Opening Event with Federal Transport Minister Dobrindt and EU Commissioner Bulc

When InnoTrans 2016 opens on 20 September the industry’s key figures will be there. Over 1,000 senior representatives of industry, politics and science from Germany and abroad will be gathered in the Palais am Funkturm for the opening ceremony of the eleventh edition of InnoTrans. Besides EU Transport Commissioner Violeta Bulc and German Federal Minister of Transport and Digital Infrastructure Alexander Dobrindt, numerous transport ministers as well as senior executives representing rail manufacturing and operating companies from around the world are expected to attend.

Under the heading of ’Mobility 4.0’ this year’s InnoTrans will address an up-to-the-minute industry topic. In their opening speeches Violeta Bulc and Alexander Dobrindt will provide an insight into national and European views on this subject.

“We are about to step into a historically new, innovative age of digitisation, data and connectivity. At InnoTrans the industry will impressively show that it can live up to this claim“, said Federal Minister Dobrindt. “The overall climate is better than it has ever been and politically the path ahead has been set out: we are investing, modernising, and the digital transition is under way. We are laying the foundations to ensure that rail transport maintains its role as a leading innovative force and successfully enters the next phase, ’Mobility 4.0’ and the ’digital age of rail transport’.”

The speeches will be followed by a high-level panel discussion. Taking part will be Dr. Rüdiger Grube, CEO of Deutsche Bahn, Yves Desjardins-Siciliano, president and CEO of VIA Rail Canada, and Jürgen Fenske, president of the Association of German Transport Companies.
