CRRC Indian Railway Plant Starts Operations

CRRC Indian Railway Plant Starts Operations :China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation (CRRC) announced on 20 August 2016 that its Indian joint venture plant has started operations. The plant, located between New Delhi and Bombay in the Bavo Industrial District of Haryana, will repair and manufacture railway locomotives engines. It will also provide technology support to India’s rail system and supply electric transmission systems to oil drilling, wind power generation and mining equipment making in India.

The Chinese rail manufacturer holds 51% share in the new joint venture, named CRRC Pioneer (India) Electric Company.
CRRC Vice President Yu Weiping stated that the new plant would create jobs and tax revenue for local people and help improve infrastructure. He then added that it will advance cooperation in industrial capacity and local equipment manufacturing.

Mr. Weiping concluded that “given more than 60,000 km of railways in India, it is far from enough to build a single locomotive engine plant in India. CRRC will build more plants able to produce trains, locomotive traction systems and other key parts in India.”

High Speed Rail (HSR) equipment manufacturing giant CRRC was formed in 2015 with the merger of China CNR Corporation Limited (CNR) and China South Locomotive & Rolling Stock Corporation Limited (CSR).
