Stadler Opens New Train Manufacturing Site

Stadler Opens New Train Manufacturing Site: Stadler announced that open a temporary manufacturing and assembly facility in Utah to build trains for the company’s TEX Rail order.

The Utah factory will be used to complete the final assembly of eight diesel multiple units (DMUs) ordered by the Fort Worth Transportation Authority. The site will be able to accomodate any additional options on top of the initial TEX Rail order, but Stadler is looking for a permanent North American manufacturing base in the meantime.

Peter Spuhler, owner and chief executive of Stadler Rail, said: “Conditions here are ideal, and we are confident that this represents important progress in our US business.

“The two-phase plan enables us to manufacture trains for the TEX Rail order under optimum conditions and, based on orders received, to extend and further expand our activities in the USA.

Stadler, which has its headquarters in Bussnang, Switzerland, opened a US subsidiary in New Jersey in 2011.
