Locomotive crashes into buffers at North Norfolk Railway 1940s weekend

Locomotive crashes into buffers at North Norfolk Railway 1940s weekend :A train has crashed into the buffers in Holt at North Norfolk Railway’s 1940s weekend.

One fire engine from Holt attended the scene to assist police and ambulance services but, according to a Norfolk fire spokesman, no-one was injured.

She said there was one male casualty in shock but he was not injured.

They were called to the scene at 12.22pm but have since left, according to the spokesman.

One of the attractions at the 1940s weekend saw visitors climb aboard steam trains running along the heritage railway line between Sheringham and Holt, stopping at Weybourne.

Chrissie Rayment, event organiser, confirmed a train had gone into the buffers.

She said any train involved in an incident was not allowed to run before it had been examined and three out of the four trains would still run to Holt.

The incident happened while the locomotive was on the ‘run around’, which is the processes of reattaching the engine so the train can travel back in the direction it came.
