Japan And India Agreed For High Speed Railway: India has signed multiple agreements with Japan to support the modernisation of the country’s rail network, including the construction of a high-speed line between Mumbai and Ahmedabad.

Japan will provide an €11 billion loan to finance the new 508 km line, which will adopt Japanese Shinkansen technology.

The cooperation agreements were signed by Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzō Abe on December 12 when he visit to India.

Two more agreements cover the transfer of technology between the two countries, in areas such as rolling stock, control systems and safety, and rail research. Japan will also support the training of staff for the project.
