Hessische Landesbahn Orders Coradia EMUs: Hessische Landesbahn (HLB) has ordered 30 Coradia EMUs for the Südhessen-Untermain line in western Germany.

The new EMUs will enter service in December 2018, the €160 million fleet will be the first Coradia Continental vehicles to comply with the European Locomotives & Passenger Rolling Stock Technical Specification for Interoperability (TSI).

Alstom will supply three and four-car options. The Coradia EMUs will operated  between Wiesbaden, Mainz, Darmstadt, Frankfurt and Aschaffenburg.

The trains will built in Salzgitter. They have a maximum commercial speed of 160 km/h and feature large, open interiors, as the traction equipment is installed on the roof.
