Sydney-ParramattaLight Rail Has Been Revealed: A 22-kilometre route for the Parramatta light rail route in Sydney has been revealed.

The line will connect Westmead to Strathfield via Parramatta CBD, including stops in Camellia and at the Sydney Olympic Park. The line will branch off to Carlingford and replace the current conventional rail link.

NSW Premier Mike Baird, Minister for Transport and Infrastructure, said: “We’re delivering a modern, efficient and reliable light rail network for Western Sydney.

“The light rail network will help Parramatta reach its potential as Sydney’s second CBD and be a major boost to existing public transport services in Western Sydney.”

A Special Infrastructure Contribution levy will be imposed on developments along the route to help fund the corridor and associated infrastructure. The NSW Government will contribute a further $1 billion and is looking at other potential contributions.
