Singapore plans to implements its sixth metro line :Singapore now plans to construct its sixth metro line, the Eastern Region Line (ERL). As stated by Land Transport Authority (LTA) the new line will be 13 km long and have 9 stations. It is planned to operate jointly with Thomson Line, thus providing connection between Eastern and Northern districts of Singapore.

Together with Thomson Line (TEL) the whole line will be 43 km long and have 31 stations. It is planned to construct the ERL in two states, opening the first seven stations in 2023 and last two one year later.

Construction of TEL started by the end of July and is planned to open the first phase in 2019.
