Saudi Arabia signs design contract with Systra for the Jeddah metro :On 17th July the government of Saudi Arabia has signed a contract with the French Company Systra for preliminary engineering design of Jeddah Metro.

According to the Arab News the contract signed with Systra has a value of SR276 million ($73.59 million).
Systra is involved in many railway projects in the kingdom, including: the Al Mashaaer Al Mugaddassah Metro Line and its extension; the Al Haramain High-Speed Line; the Nnorth-South Railway and the King Abdullah Financial District Monorail project

This engineering study is related to a transport plan approved by the Council of Ministers last year. This plan includes three line light metro, buses and ferries and will be completed in seven years.
