From now on Rolling Stock in Turkey will be under the protection of TSE :The establishment of the Fire and Acoustics Laboratory, being erected in Tuzla by Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) is about to be completed. The laboratory will start operating soon to conduct fire and acoustics tests in railway vehicles.

TSE has made a statement explaining that the “EN45545 standard that is harmonized for fire safety in railway systems in many places refer to “TS EN ISO 13501-1-2” Standard, which is fire safety standards for construction materials and the basic standard in the new established laboratory. In the statement, it is explained that with high number of joint experiment methods, some of the experiments on railways can be conducted in a very short period and the remaining are within the scope and they will achieve the capacity to conduct all in the shortest time possible.

The statement included view of Mr. Mehmet Hüsrev the Coordinator of TSE Marmara District, who stated that they are at the final stage in estasblishment of the Fire and Acoustics Laboratory in Tuzla and will be in operation soon.
Mr. Hüsrev has explained that TSE method statement are being prepared for this issue and from now on it will be possible to conduct the fire and acoustics tests for railway vehicles in this laboratory. He continued, stating; “as with other areas, we are very ambitious in this area. Since the level of laboratory services in tests and inspections is not sufficient in our country, most of these services are procured from other countries. As a national entity of Turkey, it is TSE’s aim to diversify our services in these tests and inspections. We continue to work in improving these services”.

Mr. Hüsrev announcing that a national workshop will be held soon with directives from Mr. Fikri Işık, Minister of Science, Technology and Industry and continued:

“The 1st National Test and Inspection Workshop” will be held in May where the problems of our entities and proposed solutions will be discussed to establish the necessary conditions for providing the test and inspection services in our country. Thus we will manage to minimize our dependency on abroad and contribute to our economy. As TSE our priority is human health and safety and we are implementing all our works with this aim. From now on our railways will be under protection of TSE.”
