Cable cars to cross the Bosphorus will be tendered :Three lines of cable cars are set to be unveiled across the Istanbul Bosphorus, connecting the European and Asian sides of the city to one another. After establishing a line between the towns of Çamlıca and Etiler, another line joining Beykoz to Sarıyer will also be constructed. A third line will also be built across the Haliç River between the Eyüp and Sütlüce districts.

Among many other projects, the Municipality of Istanbul has made plans to drastically revolutionize the city’s transport system ahead of the next local elections.

According to the Milliyet journalist Hülya Çaylak, the head of the Istanbul Municipality Kadir Topbaş has already made plans to build a second cable car line between Rumelihisarı and Otağtepe despite ongoing opposition to the one planned between Çamlıca and Zincirlikuyu. The two kilometer long line is due to be completed by the year 2023.

The first line which was originally planned to start in Etiler has been redesigned to start at Zincirlikuyu, going on to stop at Altunizade and then Çamlıca. This eight kilometer line has been set a 2015 completion date.
More lines have also been planned across Istanbul including one at the Sabiha Gökçe airport in Pendik, which will be nine kilometers long, and another 3.5 kilometer line at the Atatürk airport. Both lines are planned to be open for service by 2017. In addition to this, a tramway line connecting Edirnekapı to Vezneciler is due for the following year in 2018.

Another project known as Havaray will cover a distance of 5.8 kilometers between Beyoğlu and Şişli. Similar lines will join Sefaköy and Kuyumcukent to the airport, as well as a 5.5 kilometer line running across 4. Levent-Gültepe-Çeliktepe-Levent.

On the Asian side, a 3.5 kilometer Havaray line will be built along the Kartal D100 highway. A 7.7 kilometer line between the Sabiha Gökçen airport and Formula, a 3.6 kilometer line between Maltepe and Başıbüyük, and a 11.1 kilometer line between Ataşehir and Ümraniye are also planned for 2023.
