BT denies responsibility for Notts tram project delays :BT has insisted it is not responsible for causing delays to a tram project in Nottingham.BT has dismissed the suggestion it is responsible for causing delays to a tram project in Nottingham.

The city’s tram network is to be more than doubled in size before the end of the year, with 28 new stops and 17.5km of new track being created.

However, Broxtowe MP Anna Soubry believes BT is taking too long to carry out work on utilities in the area and has called on the telecoms provider to speed up its operations, reports the Nottingham Post.

BT has responded by insisting it is not responsible for any “significant delays” in the tram project.

Indeed, the company said it has “sought to work closely with all parties to ensure that the project is able to progress as quickly as possible”.

BT added that it is “happy to meet with the MP to discuss her concerns”.

Officials behind the tram extension in Nottingham believe the improved service will be able to carry approximately 23 million passengers every year and play a key part in creating up to 8,000 jobs in the area.

Estimates also suggest the infrastructure upgrades could boost Nottingham’s economy by £300 million per annum.
