By the flat surface of the embedded rail tripping hazards are eliminated for pedestrians, bikes and wheelchairs. Moreover the embedded rail is pilferage-proof and protected against vandalism, i.e. no loose iso-parts and mechanical fasteners which need to be regularly monitored and maintained.
