Turkey İzmir Konak and Karsiyaka Tram Project Tender :Izmir is the third largest city in Turkey with a population of around 3.7 million, the second biggest port after Istanbul, and a very good transport hub. It is a rapidly growing city on the Central Aegean coast of Turkey. İzmir Metro is a subway network in İzmir, Turkey that is constantly being extended with new stations being put in service. The network, consisting of one line, starts from Hatay station in Hatay in the southern portion of the metropolitan area and runs towards northeast to end in Evka-3, Bornova. The line is 16.1 km long and this line will be connected with two new tramway lines.

Konak and Karsiyaka Tram tender is just announced. Konak Tramway (Fahrettin Altay Konak Square and Halkapınar) is about 12,6 s km length. 19 stations will be constructed on this line. Karsiyaka Tramway line (Alaybey Karsiyaka Mavisehir) is about 9,70 km and includes 16 stations. 38 pieces of low floor tram vehicles are also included in tender. The total expected construction cost is nearly 591 million TL (211 million EUR), plus 38 pieces of tramvay vehicles will cost about 46 million EUR. So, the final cost of project is about 256 million EUR. 25 percent of total cost will be supplied by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, with 75 percent of Treasury loan guarantees.
