The tender of Ankara Commuter System Project Baskentray was canceled

The Public Procurement Agency (KÄ°K) of Turkey decided to cancel the tender of Ankara Commuter System Baskentray Project, which was carried out last year by TCDD. The BaÅŸkentray project was supposed to provide 36 km of urban passenger transport. According the plan of the project 110 million passengers per year should be transported. The project also was supposed to integrate Ankara with other cities of Turkey regarding the high speed rail system, through the following rail lines: Ankara-Istanbul, Ankara-Konya and Ankara – Sivas.

The blueprints which have been drawn up with the aim of rendering 24 km line section between Ankara-Sincan available for high speed train operations and arranging of the present suburban lines, platforms and stations have been submitted the cadastre for approval.

Since it is planned that Ankara-Sincan line section will be tendered together with Ankara-KayaÅŸ line section within BaÅŸkentray Project, the tender for the drawing up the as-built projects of Ankara-KayaÅŸ line section has been gone out.

For the preparation of the as-built projects of Ankara-KayaÅŸ line section, a contract was signed with the Infrastructure company on 15th October 2007.

It is aimed to go out tender for Ankara-Sincan line section in the initial stage and to complete the construction works between 2009 and 2010.

The tender has been made by the Permanent Way Department and the project is currently under acceptance period.
