Southern Railway launches new passenger trains

The Southern Railway has introduced new passenger train services connecting Villupuram with Katpadi and with Mayiladuthurai as announced in the railway budget 2012-13.

The Villupuram-Katpadi passenger trains (train No 56882, 56884 and 56886) via Tiruvannamalai and Vellore Cantonment commenced its services from Friday, while the Katpadi-Villupuram passenger trains (train No 56881, 56883 and 56885) will start from Saturday

Train No 56882, 56884 and 56886 will leave Villupuram at 4 am, 4.20 pm and 6.25 pm, while Train No 56881, 56883 and 56885 will leave Katpadi at 4.45 pm, 6.40 am and 4.35 pm.

The above trains will stop at all stations between Katpadi and Villupuram. The composition of the trains will be seven general second class and two second class-cum-luggage coaches.

With the introduction of three pairs of passengers on Villupuram-Katpadi section, Train No 06842/06841 passenger specials will be cancelled from March 29.

The Villupuram-Mayiladuthurai passenger train (train No 56875) is scheduled to commence its services from Friday (March 29), while Maiyladuthurai-Villupuram passenger train (train No 56876) will commence its services from Saturday, March 30. Train No 56875 leaves Villupuram at 2.20 pm, while train No 56876 leaves Mayiladuthurai at 3.25 pm.

The above trains will stop at all stations between Villupuram and Mayiladuthurai. The composition of the above trains will be seven general second class and two second class-cum-luggage coaches.
