Riyadh Metro linked internal rail for Riyadh university

The King Saud University (KSU) in Riyadh is planning to build a train network on campus for its 40,000 students to be linked to the upcoming Riyadh Metro.

KSU’s Agency for Projects and a French consulting company, Egis Rail, are currently studying the transport plan for the 900-hectare university campus.

In a statement, KSU said the project would be presented in the next university budget in conjunction with the implementation of the broader Riyadh Metro plan, which is expected to raise the number of visitors to the university from 46,000 a day to up to 136,000.

The KSU is currently assessing how the routes would operate but one suggestion is to have a main line with two loops branching out to serve the central service areas on the west side and the dormitories, sports area and entertainment on the east side.

An extended section would then lead to the subway metro station on Riyadh’s King Abdullah Road.
