The project Marmaray is ready :The project that has started during the time of Abdul Hamid Khan II, in 1902 has finally reached to its finish line in 2013. The project will be launched on 29 October, the day of the Turkish Republic. The project connects the two sides of Istanbul with a tunnel under Bosphorus.

In one of his speeches, Binali Yıldırım, the Minister of Maritime Transport and Communications has reminded that in the last weeks, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Prime Minister of Turkey has tested the metro that will be operating for the Marmaray project. Moreover, the Minister Yıldırım has sustained that he had been checking and supervising continuously the works of the projects.
“A project with zero risks”

The Minister Yıldırım has outlined the fact that Marmaray project is a project together with Japanese. He also added some details about the tubes which all together make the tunnel under the Bosphorus. Accordingly, the tubes were designed by Japanese engineers but made by the Turkish engineers in Tuzla region, Istanbul. One tube has a length of 135 m and a width of 15 m having a weight of 18 tones. The total number of tubes is 11. Until now there were no accident regarding the installation of tubes. The Marmaray project is a project made with zero risks.
The Minister Yıldırım has expressed his happiness that the project is already finished after so much work. Along with this project, at the end of the year the High Speed Train line between Istanbul and Ankara will be opened; in such a way the travel time between the two big cities will be decreased from 7 hours to 3 hours.
