Pesa sells trams to Moscow

Polish railway stock and tramway producer Pesa has signed an agreement on the sale of 120 trams to Moscow. According to Russian media, the value of the contract is over zł.900 million, but the official figure is confidential. Earlier last week, the Polish company agreed to sell 20 of its trams to Bulgaria’s capital, Sofia.

Sofia bought the Swing model of trams, the same that are in use in Warsaw, while Moscow bought a new model.

This isn’t Pesa’s first contract in Russia, as it has done business in the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad, which borders Poland. Other foreign markets in which it has done business include Hungary and Romania.

Pesa’s heritage dates back to 1851. Throughout all these years the production was based in Bydgoszcz. The company currently employs some 3,700 workers.
