Malaysian railway to deploy telecommunication system : Syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad (Prasarana) — the national public infrastructure company under Ministry of Finance, Malaysia will deploy a railway communication system along the extension of a Light Rail Transit (LRT) in Ampang Line to improve safety and efficiency.

Prasarana recently announced the collaboration with Huawei — a Chinese ICT provider — to implement an innovative communication system for the extended 18 kilometres of the Ampang line, which covers 13 stations and ten traction power substations from Sri Petaling, Kuala Lumpur to Putra Heights in Selangor.

As a sole railway telecommunication system supplier to the project , Huawei will work closely with George Kent (Malaysia) Berhad — a large total solutions provider in Malaysia on this project.

A highly reliable system has been designed and developed to suite Prasarana’s unique needs to enhance safety and efficiency. The solution to begin the implementation in the coming months will provide a large communication system consisting of SDH Backbone, IP PABX Telephony, CCTV Video Surveillance, Public Address, Passenger Information Displays, Voice Recording, NTP Clock services and other railway communication devices.

The solution is expected to help Prasarana deliver its commitment in expanding the coverage of the LRT network and providing quality public transportation services in more places for more public LRT commuters.
