Hungary – GSM-R Network for Railway : Hungarian state owned company is looking for suppliers to set up a new telecommunication network (GSM-R) along a 905km long railway track.

A Hungarian state owned company is looking for suppliers of the following:

Along the 905 km long railway line (train stations and railway lines in Budapest, lines between Budapest-Székesfehérvár, Győr-Boba-Bajánsenye, Budapest-Hegyeshalom, Sopron-Szombathely-Szentgotthárd, Budapest-Cegléd-Szajol-Püspökladány, Szajol-Lőkösháza) a new telecommunications network needs to be established.

The successful candidate needs to provide the documentation of the whole system and to set up a new GSM-R telecommunication network. The contractor is also obliged to establish the necceseary buildings and to draft the plans for the construction which are required for operating the system.

GSM-R is a requirement for joining the European Union-supported unified European Rail Traffic Management System aimed at enhancing the cross-border interoperability of train-control and -command systems.

The winner has two years after singing the contract to set up the new facilites and the network.

The contract also includes the training of the local staff as well as the maintenence of the system.

The value of the complete tender is approximately 35 bln HUF (~ 100 mln GBP) and will be funded by the EU.
