Canarail joins Colombia rail project : Canarail, a Montreal-based consultant specializing in rail transport, mining, freight and urban projects, said Tuesday it will take part in Colombia’s new $21-billion, 10-year program to modernize and expand its road, port and rail systems.

Canarail, a member of France’s Systra Group, the world’s largest rail engineering firm, has signed an exclusive partnership deal with Colombia’s A. de G. Ingeneria, a specialist in feasibility studies for rail infrastructure projects and based in Bogota. Financial details were not disclosed.

“The deal will allow us to combine our local expertise with Canarail’s international knowhow to develop Columbia’s rail infrastructure,” Gusatvo Arias de Greff, managing-director of A. de G. Ingeniera, said in a statement.

The 22-year-old Canarail has taken part in more than 500 projects in the Americas, the Mideast, Asia, Africa and Australia over the past two decades.
