Brazil’s Vale Gets OK to Build Rail Tracks To Iron Ore Mine

Brazil’s Vale Gets OK to Build Rail Tracks To Iron Ore Mine : Brazilian mining giant Vale SA said it has obtained the final clearance to begin building a 101-kilometer stretch of rail connecting its Serra Sul iron-ore project at Carajas, in the Amazon, to the main railroad out of the region.

The company said it has received two environmental permits allowing it to down forest and begin installing the line, which will connect the new mine–known as S11D–to Vale’s existing Carajas railroad.

Last month, Vale obtained a permit to operate a new rail terminal at its Ponta da Madeira port complex, at the other end of the Carajas railroad.
