A consortium led by Euroestudios to conduct the final studies of Bogotá Metro’s first line : The consortium formed by the Spanish companies Euroestudios and Idom Ingeniería and the Colombian engineering company Cano Jiménez will perform the final studies of Bogotá Metro’s first line.

The studies will be divided into three stages and will include the underground civil engineering project, the architectural and structural design of stations, the design of the electromechanical installations and communications systems, the definition of the specifications of the rolling stock, operation and maintenance and the estimated investment for construction.

The contract amounts to 70,000 million pesos (about 29 million euros) and the project will have a term of completion of 15 months.

The engineering studies will be financed by the World Bank, which will provide 30,000 million pesos (about 12.54 million euros), turning into one of the largest projects this financial organization has committed with in the region. The rest will be funded by Bogotá District through the Urban Development Institute.

Bogotá Metro’s first line will be 26.5 kilometres long, mostly underground, and will comprise 28 stations, some of which will be intermodal. The route will run between El Tintal and 127th Street, crossing the entire centre of the Colombian capital.
