Works for the tram-train of Médoc are ready to commence

Works for the tram-train of Médoc are ready to commence after the signing of the grant agreement. The service should be running by 2014, and will evolve from 7.1 km of new tramway lines to new links with other railway lines.

A new tramline will be constructed in the place of the current tracks of the abandoned Medoc railway, partly by rehabilitating the old tracks and partly by building new tracks parallel to the existing ones. The service will evolve to be used by trams, trains and tram-trains, with new equipment. Connection with the belt line is planned near Pessac, then possibly to the north, beyond Parempuyre.

A bridge will be constructed to allow the tram to span the railway line Bordeaux-Le Verdon and it could also accommodate a cycle path. The new line will have six stations. Two park and ride stations will be built at Blanquefort (120 spaces) and Bruges station (60 spaces).
