South Korea tests new high-speed trains

South Korea has presented a new prototype of high-speed train which could reach speeds of up to 430 km/h. The prototype, including two locomotives and four wagons, was developed with the help of 50 companies and state institutions.

The new train, called Hemu-430x, could be operated starting with 2016-2017, until then being submitted to several tests.

The train can reach the speed of 300 km/h in just 233 seconds, 120 seconds earlier than the trains currently operating on the railway network in South Korea.

Overall, the South-Korean Government has allocated EUR 62 Million to this project starting with 2007.
