SNCB pays more for train delays

Last year, Belgian railway operator SNCB paid delay compensations of EUR 1.026 Million to passengers, which is 0.05% of the turnover.

Compensations are twice as high as in 2010 when the company paid around EUR 488,000.
The number of demands for compensations increased by 60% to 68,991.

These increases could be explained by the higher number of passengers travelling by train, as well as by the higher number of passengers who had found out that they could get compensations for train delays.
