Showcase for railway industry innovations

Widespread fears of a recession and the European sovereign debt crisis are not having any effect on InnoTrans 2012. On the contrary, the trade show is booked, and meanwhile has expanded to such an extent that certain individual segments such as Public Transport and Interiors have acquired the status of trade shows in their own right regarding the display area and product diversity. This is equally true for the two largest segments of InnoTrans, Railway Technology and Railway Infrastructure.

The Railway Technology segment covers a display area of approximately 100,000 square metres gross, including
the outdoor display area with tracks. The halls adjacent to the outdoor display area house the exhibitors in the
Railway Infrastructure segment. This year, they are also represented in Hall 5.2, and thus occupying six exhibition halls in total. The background to this is the expansion in the display area reserved for Railway Infrastructure, to 30,000
square metres gross from 25,000 square metres at the last trade fair.

Among the companies exhibiting in the Railway Infrastructure segment will be Network Rail of the United Kingdom. David McLoughlin, Finance & Commercial Director at Network Rail, says exactly why they are taking part in the trade fair: „The InnoTrans is an opportunity for us to engage with the industry, share a vision for the future and understand how new innovation and emerging technologies could provide positive results for our organisation
and our customers.”

Around 53 per cent of the trade fair participants in the Railway Infrastructure segment come from outside Germany.
This share is on a par with the overall international presence at InnoTrans 2012: at the time of writing, 54 per cent of exhibitors come from abroad.

In terms of geographical regions, Europe clearly has the biggest presence at the trade fair, followed by Asia, North America, Australia, Latin America and Africa.
