Russia’s Neftetransservice to buy rail operator from Evraz

Russia’s Neftetransservice rail carrier has signed an exclusive contract to acquire railroad operator Evraztrans from metals and mining giant Evraz, Neftetransservice official told reporters Thursday.

In late October, the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) cleared Neftetransservice to buy Evraztrans.

“The deal is expected to be closed by the end of 2012,” the official said. He did not disclose the sum of the deal.

After the deal, the company’s rolling stock will increase to 60,000 cars, the official said.

Neftetransservice plans to pick a long-term contractor that would operate the most of Evraztrans’ rolling stock.

Evraz spokesperson also confirmed that the exclusive contract was signed but declined to comment further.
