Russia and Estonia to launch JV for transport services

The Federal Passenger Company (FPC, a subsidiary of Russian Railways JSC) and Go Rail (an Estonian transporter) can establish a joint venture to provide transport services  between Russia and Estonia, said Oleg Nikitin, Deputy CEO of the FPC.

“We plan to make the decision about it in the first half of 2013. We held negotiations with the Estonian party a month ago, and it is on the level of a hypothesis”, he said.

Traffic may be organized on the routes Tallinn – St Petersburg and Tallinn – Moscow. Modern rolling stock is supposed to be used on the lines. If the JV is launched, it will be possible to attract funds from the EU for the purchase of rolling stock, as it was done in the situation with the Allegro train servicing the St Petersburg – Helsinki line, reports Interfax.

Go Rail operates on the Tallinn – St Petersburg and Tallinn – Moscow lines. The company belongs to Go Group concern, which is engaged in international railway transportation.
