Rideau Transit Group, ACS win $2.1B Ottawa LRT project bid

Alstom of France will provide the new Ottawa LRT project with two of its “Citadis” models which will offer a carrying capacity of 600 passengers to start.

The company was selected by the consortium Rideau Transit Group expected to be announced as the winning bidder for the project.

Alstom is the same company that will provide trains for the O-train expansion set for next year.

The 12.5 kilometre light rail project will run from Tunney’s Pasture to Blair Road and includes a tunnel under the downtown.

Industry sources say the winning bid for the Ottawa light rail contract will come under $2.1 billion.

The official announcement will be made on Wednesday.
