RENFE’s potential privatisation delayed

The different opinions of the Development and Economy ministries in Spain delay the making of a decision about state-owned railway company RENFE.

The Ministry of Development bets on a less aggressive privatisation, unlike the Ministry of Economy which supports a complex liberalisation. All these delays show that nothing will change until the summer, the Spanish press informs.

The board of railway companies RENFE and FEVE and of infrastructure manager ADIF, as well as the government representatives have let the unions know that they had not made a decision on the liberalisation model. Although a decision could be made in the Council of Ministers, there are still many aspects to deal with, they added.
