RENFE interested in the British railway market

Spanish company RENFE is interested in accessing the British railway market before the liberalisation of the company, scheduled for July 2013. RENFE is mainly interested in the short-distance segment, Francisco Cañamero, the company’s Marketing Manager said.

The capacity to win international tenders is in fact one of the company’s strategic directions.
Another strategic direction is the best use of the infrastructures to be put in service by 2013, especially high-speed lines. “They will permit us to offer high-speed services towards France and the Iberian Peninsula”.

Liberalisation objectives also include improvement of high-speed and conventional infrastructure to exceed the existing threshold of 500 million passengers.
