Railway Events : Growing pains? How to meet the increasing demand on UK railways.

This year’s Annual Railway Seminar organised by Young Engineers will discuss the difficulties in dealing with actual and projected growth within the railway industry. Through a series of workshops, case studies and informative lectures, practical insight will demonstrate how the industry has been and will be addressing this issue. The seminar will show examples of success and best practice as well as plans for the future. Delegates will achieve increased awareness of the problems of growth and how these can be turned into opportunities.

On the first day of the seminar, delegates will have the chance to visit one of a range of businesses within the industry. These are live situations showing day to day working.  This will be followed by an enjoyable networking event incorporating some friendly competition with top prize up for grabs.

During the following two days of the seminar, delegates will be able to interact with the speakers through a series of discussion sessions and a question time style debate, allowing delegates to further tap into the knowledge of industry experts.  The seminar will also feature a team-based engineering challenge where delegates will complete a practical group task that will involve developing design solutions, manufacturing skills and project planning.

A theoretical team-based activity will give the opportunity to develop solutions to railway-related problems while practicing presentation skills.  Additionally, a formal drinks reception and dinner at the National Railway Museum will give delegates further opportunities for networking with like-minded engineers.
