President Alexander Lukashenko opens new stations of Minsk metro.

The three underground stations – “Grushevka”, “Mikhalovo”, “Petrovschina” – appeared today on the map of Minsk. The opening ceremony was attended by President Alexander Lukashenko. The new site more than 5 kilometers long stretches along the Moscow subway line from the station “Institute of Culture”. Initially, it will be used by about 723,000 people per day. The Head of State was informed today about the development of the Minsk subway, security of its facilities, reconstruction of Dzerzhinsky Avenue, development of intercity passenger rail transportation. In addition, the President was informed about Moscow’s interest in attracting Belarusian specialists for building the subway. The Head of State approved the initiative.

By cutting the red ribbon Alexander Lukashenko opened the “Petrovschina” station and examined each of the three stations. At the end the Head of State spoke to reporters.

In particular, he discussed the issue of double standards in the work of OSCE and the attitude of some of the countries, including USA, to the activity of this organization.

Alexander Lukashenko also answered other questions of the mass media representatives. When answering the questions of the journalists regarding the Day of the October Revolution, the President expressed his firm conviction that Belarus did the right thing by preserving this state holiday and its best traditions. One of the traditions is to open socially significant facilities on the eve of November 7. This year, events associated with the October holidays will take place in each regional center.
