Lithuanian Railways purchase trains from Poland

The Lithuanian Railways signed a contract with the Polish train manufacturer Pojadzy Szynowe Pesa Bydgoszcz on the purchase of three passenger trains.

The two-car diesel trains will be used on the routes between Vilnius and Klaipėda and between Vilnius and Minsk, announced the Lithuanian company. Lithuanian Railways did not disclose however the value of the purchase.

The trains that will be commissioned in May 2013 will be able to run at speeds of up to 140 kilometres per hour and will be adapted for disabled people.
