Iran signs railway network development deal

Iranian Railways has signed a deal with the National Development Fund and the Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade to boost rail infrastructures, Railways Company’s managing director Abdol-Ali Saheb-Mohammadi declared. The cost of the agreement is EUR 1 Billion.

The company has the potential to build 350 kilometres of railways per year. Roughly 420 kilometres of railways will be constructed by the end of the Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2013), Saheb-Mohammadi further said.

Deputy roads and urban development minister Ahmad Sadeqi has said that by the next two years all the country’s provinces will be connected together to the railway network.
