International Conference on Road and Rail infrastructure CETRA 2012 Dubrovnik Croatia

After successful 1st International Conference on Road and Rail infrastructure (CETRA 2010), it is our pleasure to invite you once more to Croatia, this time to Dubrovnik, the pearl of the Adriatic coast, to the 2nd International Conference on Road and Rail Infrastructure (CETRA 2012) that will be held on 7-9 May 2012.

The intention of 2nd International Conference on Road and Infrastructure – CETRA 2012, organised by University of Zagreb, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Department for Transportation, is to bring together scientists and experts in the fields of road and railway engineering and give them one more oportunity to present the results of their research, findings and innovations. Road and railway infrastructures are closely related, but scientific and professional gatherings that include both fields simultaneously have rarely been organized.

By now we have recieved 186 papers from 43 countries covering the following conference topics:

Traffic planning and modelling
Infrastructure projects
Design of subsructure and superstructure
Urban transport infrastructure
Construction process
Recycled materials
Noise and vibrations
Structural monitoring
New materials and technologies
Traffic safety

The development of a modern society, particularly its economic development, at present is unthinkable without a developed transportation infrastructure, particularly railways. This statement is probably best reflected through important planned investments in the construction, development and modernization of the Croatian rail network in the amount of 28 million Euros, of which one third is in the tender process. Also, the ever growing need for increase of traffic, both passenger and cargo, demands not only the development of the vehicles themselves, (increasing their cargo capacity and speed), but it also requires the timely construction and regular maintenance of transportation infrastructure.

The conference will be an opportunity for scientists and experts in the field of transport infrastructure engineering to analyze problems in everyday engineering practice and to offer possible solutions for more efficient planning, designing, construction and maintenance in these areas. It also gives the opportunity to entrepreneurs to present their products and services to a great number of experts involved in road and railway infrastructure.

We look forward to your participation in CETRA 2012 this May in Dubrovnik!
