DB Schenker Rail Polska displeased with future track access charges
Following the publication of the draft quotation concerning access rates for use of railway infrastructure managed by PKP Polish Railway Lines SA, which will have come into force on 9th December 2012, DB Schenker Rail Polska SA submitted a letter to the President of UTK calling for not approving the rates in the submitted quotation.
DB Schenker Rail Polska believes charges are increase by up to 60% compared to previous years which will mostly affect smaller railway carriers risking insolvency. The company warns that the level of access rates in Poland for freight transport is more than twice as high as for passenger transport. The increase of the track access charge is not justified as Poland is one of the countries with the highest charges in Central Europe while the infrastructure conditions are getting worse every day.
