Budapest Metro to inaugurate line 4 in 2014

Budapest-Metro3

The construction of Budapest’s fourth metro line could be ready by spring 2014, Budapest Mayor Istvan Tarlos told journalists.

Works, initiated in March 2002 reached 70% completion in December 2011.

The biggest problem in the project development was that contracts were signed with a total of 17
subcontractors. The project’s cost has inflated to almost HUF 400 Billion (EUR 1.3 Billion) and the European subsidies amounting to HUF 181 Billion (EUR 610 Million) are now endangered due to way in which these contracts were signed, pointed out Istvan Tarlos.
