Bombardier will cut approximately 1200 workers from the railway division

The closure of the Bombardier  rolling stock plant in Aachen, Germany, will directly affect 350 employees next year and indirectly other 800 workers across its worldwide network, announced the company.

The decision to close the plant and to cut jobs cuts will “further improve company’s competitiveness and cost structure”, declared Chief executive Pierre Beaudoin.

The announcement was made in the company’s third-quarter financial report, which shows the railway division continues to face weak results.

The company’s net profit in the third quarter reached USD 212 Million (EUR 166 Million), and incomes amounted to USD 4.3 Billion (EUR 3.3 Billion), but they came in lighter than expected mainly because of the evolution of Bombardier Transportation.
