Axiom Rail launches TF25E suspension system for Europe wide rail freight operations

Axiom Rail, part of DB Schenker Rail UK, has received approval for its TF25E suspension system to operate across rail networks throughout Europe, delivering lower costs and reduced noise emissions for users.

Following a programme of testing in Germany and France in accordance with EN14363 (UIC518/UIC518-2) with speeds up to 120km/h and axle loads up to 25t, the suspension system has been formally approved for these and other European networks.

As a result, wagon designers are now able to specify the TF25E suspension system for their rail freight clients.

The TF25E is an innovative hydraulically damped suspension system for axle loads up to 25 tonnes and can operate at a maximum speed of 120 KPH.

It offers uses a number of benefits including:

– Low track forces producing low bogie wear and low maintenance requirements
– Track friendly – low track wear
– Freight friendly – low vertical acceleration
– Low noise – 3dB lower than conventional bogies
– Integral push brake system fitted, clasp brake system variant also available

Jonathan Lowden, Head of Rail Components at Axiom Rail, said: “Following increased demand from the European rail freight wagon market for a high speed and low noise producing suspension system, the TF25E delivers exactly what this market has been asking for. With long term low maintenance costs and approved use across networks throughout Europe, it will help rail freight operators compete more efficiently against road haulage.”
