Ansaldo STS awarded EUR 14.7 million Turnkey Railway signalling contract in Australia

Ansaldo STS (STS.MI), a Finmeccanica Company, through its subsidiary Ansaldo STS Australia, has been awarded a new EUR 14.7 million (A$ 17.9 million) contract from Western Australia’s Public Transport Authority (PTA) to provide the signalling system for a 7.5 km extension to Perth’s metropolitan railway line.

Ansaldo STS will design and deliver the signalling for the new extension which will include the deployment of its key MicroLok® interlocking technology from Clarkson Station (currently Perth’s most northerly railway station) to Butler. Ansaldo STS’ Automatic Train Protection technology will also be installed.

The project will take approximately two years to complete.

The extension of the railway line to the northern suburb of Butler, 41 kilometres from Perth’s central business district will service more than 2,000 additional passengers who are expected to travel from the new station at Butler daily.
