Balfour Beatty Rail Customer Seminar in Turkey

Turkey aims to extend its high-speed rail network up to 4,000 track-km by 2023 when it is going to celebrate its 100th anniversary of the Republic. Invited by the Turkish State Railway (TCDD) Balfour Beatty Rail conducted a seminar in Ankara on the 23th February 2010. Subject was Operation & Maintenance of High-speed Rail Networks.

The presentations showed the worldwide experience and capabilities Balfour Beatty Rail has gained in the high-speed market segment in the course of time. Balfour Beatty Rail can draw upon many years of experience by having constructed a total of more than 6,000 track-km catenary systems in 9 different countries. Products, systems, and technologies have been presented besides the entire service spectrum of Balfour Beatty Rail. All these serve the purpose of improved safety and reliabilty of a high-speed railway system.

A guest speaker by Deutsche Bahn (DB), Mr Klaus Schaper, Regional Manager Catenary Systems Nuremberg DB Netz AG, supported the previous presentations successfully and demonstrated the historic development of the DB catenary system as well as the long standing experiences of operation and maintenance.

The seminar was well receivecd by the representatives of TCDD and other Turkish main contractors such as Yapi Merkezi.
